Shanny Rann is a dance anthropologist and PhD Candidate at Simon Fraser University whose research focuses on traditional movement practices in diasporic contexts. Her work draws on cross-cultural fieldwork, embodied ethnography, and dance analysis to examine how movement transmits cultural knowledge, memory, and identity across borders. She is particularly interested in women’s embodied expertise and the role of dance and martial arts as living archives within migrant communities.
